Using Telehealth to Save Time and Money

After I gave birth to my third child, I started using a telehealth pediatric service called Blueberry Pediatrics. I am on the three-month renewal plan, which comes out to 15.00 a month for all three kids, but I get billed at 45.00 every three months. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to rush to the pediatrician for every concern with three kids, and I felt experienced enough as a parent to know what was an emergency and what could be solved with a telehealth visit. The biggest factor in my decision was that I like to message my doctors A LOT, and most of the time, if I messaged them on the weekend or a business day, I didn’t hear back until the next business day. I needed peace of mind, and I couldn’t run to the urgent care every time I had a concern. When you rush to urgent care, you also end up spending either on a sitter for your other kids or, if you take them all with you, on transportation, gas, snacks to appease them, and maybe even whatever they ask for on the way out. And honestly, I end up buying myself a treat too, to soothe my nerves. Sure, I probably need to tame my spending habits, but I really liked the option of having a doctor respond to my texts instead. I’ve been with Blueberry Pediatrics for almost five years now, and it has been one of the most helpful services I’ve signed up for as a parent. They sent me a kit when I first signed up that included a forehead-temperature scanner, an otoscope, and an oximeter. The otoscope connects to my computer, and I can easily send a video of the inside of my kids’ ears if I am concerned about an ear infection. I believe they have a new version that can connect to my phone, which I need to look into. The doctors at Blueberry Pediatrics easily send prescriptions to your pharmacy. They even sent me a prescription so I could have strep throat tests at home during one of the many viruses that spread in my household. I have messaged them for everything from pictures of a skin rash to concerns over the way my little one was breathing. I’ve added a screenshot to give you an idea of what a conversation in the chat might be like. If a concern calls for a telehealth visit, the doctor will let you know, and you will fill out the information to schedule it. If you’re also a mom who needs rapid communication with your doctor and likes to save money, then try Blueberry Pediatrics out.
